Pink Magic

Pink Magic, Louis Lens 1990

Hybrid musk/Multiflora

Seed: R. Multiflora X Ballerina
Pollen: Kathleen

An exquisite, very free flowering Hybrid musk. Big clusters of small light pink flowers, almost identical to those of the pink Confederate jasmine (Star jasmine, Tuscany jasmine, Trachelospermum Jasminoides). The flowers seem to hang /float in the air as the stems are thin and elegant. A good musky smell is present.
This rose is an eco rose as she will atrackt pollinators and give hundreds of hips in autumn.
A very elegant rose for the ecological garden. Rounded growth, 150X120 cm or 5X4 feet, a bit higher when she's got help to climb. Blooms from late spring till late autumn, zone 5b to 9b, heat and rain tolerant.
Very beautiful in the border, as a hedge, pots and as tree rose.
Good old Louis Lens was his time ahead, only now we realize how welcome his eco roses are
Highly recommended rose

Lyda

Lyda, Lettunich 1994

Hybrid musk/Multiflora

Seedling of Francis E Lester

Lyda is one of the best creations from the end of the 20th century and is regarded as a superb Hybrid Musk (in fact Hybrid Multiflora).
Big sprays of light pink to lavender to mauve, single blooms with a strong fragrance. Can grow up to 150 cm or 6 feet but with some help she can climb up to 3 meters or ten feet. Non stop flowering if she's deadheaded regularly. This rose is one of those very rare roses that love shade so don't be afraid to plant her in semi or full shade. It will even enhance her color
Zone 5b to 10b. Extremely disease resistant and heat tolerant.
If you wanna try your first Hybrid musk (Multiflora) then you should consider Lyda

Darlow's Enigma

Darlow's Enigma, Darlow 1993

Found rose

Hybrid Multiflora / Climber

This rose was found in the garden of Mr Darlow. Some have suggested that it is the lost rose Cascadia but not everyone is convinced.

Whatever her real name may be it's one of the very best Hybrids Multiflora /Hybrids Moschata.
White semi double blooms in clusters appear all season in great abundance. They show their golden stamen. Another good feature is it's amazing scent: It's a super strong Moschata fragrance which carries far into your garden. Darlow's Enigma is probably the strongest smelling Moschata on the market together with Felicia
Growth is extremely bushy with new stems appearing non stop. Eventually she can reach way over 300 cm or 9 feet. However you grow her she'll always be worth it. Zone 5b to 9b
Health is amazingly good with no issues, rain and shade tolerant.
In autumn the many red hips appear giving it a beautiful winter display.
One of the best roses

Comtesse André d'Oultremont

Comtesse André d'Oultremont, Lens roses 2016

Created by Ann Velle Boudolf

Moschata/Multiflora Hybrid

Lens Roses in Flanders, Belgium 🇧🇪, is the leading nursery when it comes to Moschata hybrids. They are the Pemberton of this age but they create much more and much healthier cultivars.

Comtesse André d'Oultremont produces masses of medium sized, double blooms in clusters. The color is the most pastel /Champagne like color. They have a nice fragrance of herbs and flowers. Blooms are produced with great ease and the plant is seldom without blooms and this until deep into autumn.

It's a rather low, rounded shrub of 60X60 cm or 2X2 feet, maybe a bit more. Very beautiful in groups of four, as a low hedge, in pots and even as a tree rose. Health is superb and hardiness is zone 6b to 9b

The rose was named after Countess André d'Oultremont who shared a great passion for roses.

Jeri Jennings

Jeri Jennings, Barden 2003

Hybrids Multiflora (Hybrid Moschata)

This rose makes me happy 😊. It's extremely difficult to breed medium to large flowered Moschata's. History has shown that it's not easy as we only have a few like Felicia or Buff Beauty.
But Paul Barden did it. He combined Joycie with Trier and the result is breathtakingly beautiful. Medium sized golden yellow old fashioned blooms aging into lighter yellows and creams. They look almost exactly like Golden Celebration. The bush is covered with these blooms and they keep coming all summer and autumn. A big bonus is the strong musky spicy fragrance. Vigorous growth up to 200 cm or 7 feet so it makes a big shrub as all Moschata's do. It is said that this rose is 100% disease resistant. Zone 6b to 9b.
Im so sad I can't buy her in Europe but I'm more happy for my American rose friends. Buy her if you can!

Rose of Hope

Rose of Hope, Jef Orye 2001

Hybrid Multiflora

This rose needs so much more attention. It's from the same breeder as Poustinia, the world renowned floribunda.
Sturdy shrub with beautiful, medium-sized, salmon-pink flowers that fade to cream.  They are fragrant, filled and show their stamens.  Striking are the large trusses that wing out well and make new bouquets so quickly.  The foliage is medium green, slightly glossy and extremely healthy.
120/150 cm or 6 feet. A really must have rose! Recommended

Jef Orye was my friend. He had a rose nursery nearby and the first time I met him he told me he wasn't convinced that David Austin roses were worth all the buzz. Except for Constance Spry. Jef said that it was his opinion that German and French roses were the strongest. After half an hour he took me backstage to his greenhouse where he was crossing and selecting. I then saw Poustinia before she was released and I felt really privileged. Jef and I talked again many times after that. Sadly Jef died in 2008 from a heart attack. The rose of hope was his Testament and I really want this rose to become more popular. Look at it! Isn't she gorgeous? Available at Lens Roses who decided to release this rose!

Puccini

Puccini, Lens roses 1984

Hybrid Multiflora

Ballerina X Robin Hood

A continuous flowering shrub rose with small single flowers, very fine light pink.  The branches grow upright and end with round racemes and masses of flowers. Particularly effective because the flowers last for a very long time.  Each flower can grow into fruit, a marble thick and beautiful red.  That is why it is recommended not to cut away the faded trusses after the end of August.  It is unbelievable how beautiful a branch with small round red hips can be.  Both the bunches of flowers and the bunches of hips are ideal for use in bouquets.
80X80 cm or 3X3 feet. Zone 6b to 9b
Recommended rose!

Maaseik

Maaseik, Lens roses 1997

Hybrid Multiflora

A cross of R. multiflora adenocheata, Ballerina and Kathleen.  The shrub develops overhanging branches up to 1/1.50 meter.  The very large leaves are bronze-green, a special colour.  The flowers are nicely distributed on the branches and bloom from the top down, they are single, have 4 to 5 centimeters in diameter and are soft salmon-pastel pink with large yellow pollen.  MAASEIK has the typical Multiflora fragrance. Overwhelming bloom power all summer long. Zone 6b to 9b. Maaseik in Flanders is the birthplace of one of Flanders' biggest painters: Jan Van Eyck. Jan Van Eyck was the greatest painter during the Northern Renaissance.
Maaseik is very very recommended!
