Lamarque

Lamarque, Maréchal 1832

Noisette climber

Blush Noisette X Park's Yellow tea scented China

Prefers warm spots, zone 7b to 10b

Royalty from the past; Lamarque was one of the very early Noisettes and she bedazzled thousands of rose lovers in mild climates. Her flowers are very close to those from Devoniensis but with less petals and not so perfectly placed.
They are big, pure white with a very light lemon shade and cupped, aging into flat rosettes. In small clusters they appear as long as it's mild enough so mostly all summer and autumn. Her fragrance is fresh with lemon.

Vigorous with a height of 5 meters or 15 feet. She can take on obelisks, pergola's, arches and even small trees like Lilacs or tall shrubs.
She's suitable for all climates ranging from 7b to 10b but always give her a sunny, warm spot. No pruning, she hates it.

I don't grow her but I saw her in Southern France. A glorious old favorite!

A legendary Noisette and not without reason. Her parents were Blush Noisette and Park's yellow Tea scented China. Admired all around the world this aristocrat gives joy and happiness in so many gardens.
Copper yellow with pink petals, very full, cupped, often quartered blooms in clusters. Very strong unusual pineapple 🍍 fragrance. Once established she blooms from late May till October. Vigorous and bushy she can reach 6 meters or 18 feet. Can take semi shade. For walls, arches, gazibos and pergolas.
Parent to So many good roses. Gloire de Dijon is a child of her.
Zone 6b to 9b. A glorious Noisette

PS: Now you can see how Evelyn from Austin definitely has Noisette ancestors

Marie Dermar

Marie Dermar, Geschwind 1888

Noisette

Better than Mme Alfred Carrière? Maybe, but she's definitely more repeat flowering as her much more famous sister. So why is Marie Dermar not more widely known? Well I've told it time and time again: There are countless incredible beautiful roses out there waiting to be (re) discovered.

Marie Dermar has exquisite very filled rosette /quartered blooms in a white with pinkish shade color. They appear in clusters on a vigorous plant that can reach 400 cm. She reminds us of Souvenir de la Malmaison but is far better. She reblooms non stop and yes they have a very strong citrus fragrance.
This noisette is Hardy zone 6b and warmer

Dirk's opinion:

Mme Alfred Carrière is a beautiful and good rose but Marie Dermar has more beautiful flowers and repeats better. She's just waiting to get a chance in your garden. Try her.
