A gem from the past this Madame Abel Chatenay. Exquisite light pink, typical Tea shaped flowers emerging all summer long. The flowers have a coppery yellow shine in full sun. They are moderately to strongly fragrant. Together with La France, Mme Caroline Testout and lady Mary Fitzwilliam Madame Abel Chatenay is regarded as one of the most beautiful light pink early HT's. 

100X100 cm or 3X3 feet, maybe a bit more. Health is very reasonable as is her rain resistance. She can however get some mildew but that's easily fixed with the milk treatment.

Zone 7b to 10b

A climbing sport is available which is also very beautiful but difficult to find.

Light pink, very double blooms, borne mostly solitary in small clusters. Very strong fragrance. Blooms freely all summer long, bushy growth. 

Very special variegated foliage unique to roses. One of the masterpieces of the Verschuren dynasty. Also available as a climber

An old treasure this Kaiserin Augusta Victoria. Together with Paul's Lemon pillar, Mrs Herbert Stevens and Frau Karl Drushki Kaiserin Augusta Victoria was the crème de la crème of the White roses in the early 20th century.

She grows big, perfectly formed, very full HT shaped blooms in the best sense. They are very fragrant and appear all summer long. 

It's a tall rose that can reach 2 meters or 6 feet easily and can be trained to climb. Zone 6b to 9b

Peter Lambert died in the year the rose was released and in a way this rose was his testament. 

Today you can find this beautiful Lady in some good heritage nurseries. 

Kaiserin Augusta Victoria was the last Empress of Germany and wife of Kaiser Wilhelm II who was forced to abdicate after WOI. Together they went in exile in Huis Doorn in the Netherlands where they both died

Once this rose was extremely popular as a good florist rose and strong fragrance but slowly she got out of fashion and was almost forgotten. Today, rose lovers want to know their rose heritage and inevitably they will come across Souvenir du président Carnot. She was a parent of one of the most important ramblers of the 20th century: Dr W. Van Fleet and so automatically also a Parent of Van Fleet's sport New Dawn.

The color is seashell pink with blush pink edges. The very high centered buds unfold in this perfect HT shape, the one we all love. They have a good strong fragrance.

Growth is bushy and not tall, let's say approx 90X70 cm or 3X3 feet. Zone 6b to 9b. The blooms are rain tolerant but demand full sun. 

Very beautiful in borders, as a cut flower and in pots. 

She can be found in good nurseries.

Just like her sister, Antoine Rivoire, Prince de Bulgarie was extremely popular between 1900 and 1930.

Light pink with darker salmon pink shading in the center. Big, double, high centered buds opening into high centered cupped blooms evolving into flat saucers. Good fragrance. Nice little shrub with a rounded shape. Can get 120cm or 4 feet. Zone 6b to 10b. Blooms freely all summer long. Has developed some susceptibility to Blackspot but nothing serious.

Her popularity can be seen on paintings, cigarette boxes etc from that period. It still is a beautiful rose which deserves a renewed attention just like her sister Antoine Rivoire.

A gem from the early days of Hybrid Teas. Antoine Rivoire was a huge succes for Pernet Ducher and she stayed popular for decades. 

Light pink, high centered buds and typical Hybrid Tea blooms in small clusters or borne solitary. Moderate but delicious fragrance. Blooms freely all summer long. Makes a good rounded shrub 80X80 cm or 3X3 feet. Zone 6b to 10b

This rose has a special place in the heart of rosarians in Texas. Nearly all nurseries sell Antoine Rivoire and they admit it's a special rose. She is gorgeous.
