Hybrid Perpetual? Moss?
A rare rose and to my knowledge only Guillot has it for sale. There's something curious about this rose: She has the look and feel of a Moss but she's listed as Hybrid Perpetual. Even Guillot doesn't mention her rose family designation.
But forget that and let's talk about the rose itself. It's a vigorous shrub which can reach 2 meters or 7 feet. It has coarse dark green foliage. The very mossed buds open into big, cupped, quartered silvery light pink blooms in small clusters. When fully opened they turn flat. There's a strong Damask fragrance.
Zone 6b to 9b and extremely healthy.
Pruning is best avoided. Let the shrub grow for a few years and eventually you can give it a light trim.
Named after Empress Josephine, the first wife of Emperor Napoléon I
A beautiful rose to have in your garden and it's pretty unique and rare
