Remembrance of times past

Aussie Sixer
Remembrance of times past

Bred by Viru and Girija Viraraghavan 2010

Tea

Safrano (Beauregard 1837) X Manipur Magic

Those that know me well know that Safrano is one of my favorite roses and she's one of the most used parents to create dozens of heritage Teas. Concerning Teas Safrano is inevitable.
Her great majesty lies in the shape of the petals, how they curl, and in her apricot color that changes constantly throughout the day.
She's the mother and grandparent of nearly all great Teas and early Hybrid Teas.

Viru and Girija used her to create a new, modern Tea: Aussie Sixer or the name I prefer: Remembrance of times past.
More than 100 years ago the whole world was dazzled when new roses appeared because breeders didn't want to do make roses on the assembly line. No they wanted to create roses that were never seen before, a new color or shade or shape or disease resistance or hardiness. Breeders weren't satisfied with copies of already existing roses no they had too much pride to copy others work.
For decades now we see too much of the same and it's getting quite dull.

That excitement of seeing spectacular new roses I'm experiencing the past two days.
Viru and Girija Viraraghavan made it happen. They don't just copy, no they add something valuable to the Tea class: The ability of growing in tropical regions combined with the astounding beauty of the old teas.

Remembrance of times past gets 120 cm or 4 feet, has light apricot Tea shaped flowers with a strong fragrance. She blooms freely throughout the season. Zone 7b to 10b
Why is this rose not yet available in Europe?
