Old blush China

The China roses, the foundation of our modern roses

Part I

Old Blush China (Parson's pink China, Monthly pink)

China Hybrid /Bengal rose

Old Blush was the first East Asian rose to reach Europe which was around 1752. She's very close to Rosa Chinensis but probably a Hybrid.
In all respects it's a glorious rose which will give you much pleasure. The slender, tall canes can reach 150 cm in good soil and against a protecting garden wall. She can tolerate poorer soil. She bears silvery pink double flowers in clusters with the scent of sweetpeas. She blooms almost perpetual and is never without blooms in summer. The unique thing with China roses is that the petals deepen in color as they age instead of fading. No to very light pruning! Old blush is Hardy to  - 18 degrees Celsius or - 1 Fahrenheit
A climbing sport is available under the name Old blush China climbing which will reach 2,5 meters with bigger flowers.
Old blush crossed spontaneously with the Autumn Damask rose on the Isle de Bourbon island, current Réunion 🇷🇪. This offspring was used to create the Bourbons, Noisettes and Hybrid Perpetuals and eventually the Hybrid Teas.
