Pierre de Ronsard / Eden rose

PIERRE DE RONSARD (EDEN ROSE), Meilland 1985

Modern Climber

Pierre de Ronsard (a famous French renaissance poet) was created by Jacques Mouchotte for the house of Meilland. After its release in 1985 it soon became extremely popular and today its even more popular than New Dawn.
The rose itself is a moderate climber and can reach 250 cm. It has glossy dark green foliage. The flowers come very close to the famous cabbage roses or rose des paintres we all know from art and history. They are big, cabbage shape with many pettals. The color is soft pink to white. They have a very light wild rose fragrance. The plant repeats well and is resistant to mildew but she can get blackspot.  The flowers keep good for a very long time. In moderate climates they can hang more than 2 weeks without fading. Very beautiful when in full flush. The flowers are rain resistant!
A wonderful rose which deserves all its praise.
