Ma Normandie / Gräfin Bettina

Delbard created Ma Normandie in 2007, in Germany she was launched as Gräfin Bettina.
This Hybrid Tea got extremely positive critics and reviews. The blooms are ridiculously big, up to 16 cm or almost 6 inches. They are light pink and double standing in clusters or as a solitair on a stem. Their size is combined with an extremely fruity fragrance. The plant is a nice rounded shrub 100X80 cm or 3X3 feet. Ideal for pots and front of the border. The foliage is dark green and glossy. Very disease resistant and a real reblooming champion. Zone 6b to 9b.
According to Lens Ma Normandie is one of the best roses since the beginning of the current century. Highly recommend!

Paul's Scarlet climber

Paul's Scarlet climber, Paul 1916

Rambler

A once extremely popular rambler. It was THE red rambler and it had so much good features. Big semi double bright red blooms in clusters, cascading from top to bottom. Once blooming but it lasts a couple of weeks. 350 cm or 11 feet. Can get some mildew but never serious. Zone 6b to 9b. Don't prune her, she doesn't need it. A very reliable bloomer which will give you so much joy each year. For trellis, pergolas, pillars, walls, white brick wall etc...
I can highly recommend this oldie as it was the first rambler I bought and each year was a pleasure.

Bee 🐝 friendly fungicides

Organic gardening also means NO TOXIC insecticide or fungicide. We only use products that are 100% non toxic to animals, pollinators and life in our soil. Even these biological, organic foliar sprays should be a last resort. Better is prevention. When we give our roses plenty of organic material like good compost we build up the humus content in our garden soil. Combined with organic fertilizer our roses have a head start against all kinds of foliar diseases such as blackspot, powdery mildew and rust. To strengthen the foliage against fungal diseases we can use foliar spray based on seaweed and it can be purchased everywhere under different brands. In the EU products like Algovital plus and Oenosan have been Praised for their good prevention of rose fungal diseases and plants or trees in general. Oenosan is a groundbreaking Calcium based tonic that gives our roses a boost with essential minerals, trace elements and vitamins. It strengthens our roses resulting in stronger and healthier growth and a defense against drought problems.
But what if our roses still get blackspot or powdery mildew even if we use those foliar tonics? Science has been searching for good effective fungicides which are 100% 🐝 friendly. Neem oil is safe only when used in the right dosis and when used when pollinators are not foraging so after sundown. I stopped using Neem oil because I want to be 100% sure not to harm pollinators and with Neem you can't guarantee 100% it's safe.
In the UK a product named Sulphur rose came on the market and it is a big success. It's a Sulphur based fungicide especially for roses to treat blackspot, mildew and rust and it's completely safe for 🐝 and other pollinators. You can buy it online in the UK and even in the USA. In the EU you can purchase products like Cosavet (Edialux) which is a Sulphur based fungicide.
Recently another great product came on the market to treat roses for blackspot, mildew and rust: Carboguard from Ecopur is based on Sodium bicarb and it's a ready to spray product. It's 100% bee friendly
So please, don't use chemicals to treat fungal diseases like blackspot and mildew. There are 100% effective bee friendly solutions. Buy the products I recommended here so you can use them as a last resort. We Owe it to the bees to protect them as they give us so much.

Edith Piaf

Edith Piaf, Meilland 2007
St John rose
Wiener Symphoniker

Piaf, together with Dalida and Frieda Boccara, an icon of the French chanson. It's only logical that the house of Meilland honors her with this beautiful ruby red Hybrid Tea. A red romantic Hybrid Tea has to be very fragrant and yes, Edith Piaf delivers a strong fruity old rose fragrance.
80X80 cm or 3X3 feet, zone 6b to 9b. Very healthy and a reliable rebloomer Edith Piaf makes a wonderful addition to your cut flower corner or wherever you want a stunning fragrant rose...
Non, je ne regrette rien... Indeed, you won't regret buying her

Julio Iglesias

The greatest Spanish speaking singer of the 20th century deserved a stunning captivating rose and Meilland did just that with their rose Julio Iglesias. Southern European countries and also Latin America love multi colored roses so Julio Iglesias is a red and white striped rose. The blooms are big, very showy and very double. The buds are typical Hybrid Tea, very high centered. The best feature of this rose is it's very unusual and really captivating strong fragrance. It's old rose combined with a strong citrus note but not your average citrus, it has been described as Madagascar Verveine fragrance. Very sjiek yes and totally worthy of our womanizer Julio. Healthy dark green foliage and good reblooming skills. But that's where the good features stop: It's growth is ugly, too upright, too high, very irregular, not a rounded shrub, actually a disaster regarding bush form. 180X130 cm or 7X5 feet. So keep this rose as a cut flower as she'll fill your rooms with this romantic Madagascar Verveine perfume...
Quiereme mucho... 😂
