Lykkefund

Lykkefund is a once blooming rambler from Danish rose breeder Aksel Olsen. On the market since 1930 Lykkefund is regarded as a must have rose in Scandinavia if you have a rose garden. The rose was a found seedling at Olsen nursery and there has been lots of speculation about the parentage. Olsen himself said it was R. Helenae X Zepherine Drouhin so....
Lykkefund is a very vigorous rambler, very tough and Hardy. In a few years she can already reach up to 5 meters or 18 feet. In late spring the plant is smothered with clusters of single white flowers. In the beginning they have this extraordinary egg yolk colored heart, made up by her stamen. Very pretty. Fragrance is very strong and airborne because with this rose it's the Pollen which is fragrant and not the base of the petals. In full flush on a warm day her scent is everywhere. In autumn beautiful hips appear.

Lykkefund is also thornless which is rare for a rambler of this size. Her foliage and shoots are Wisteria like. She can take considerable shade and will grow and bloom in harsh conditions. Suitable for all kinds of climbing purposes but remember it's a big rose.
Hardy 5b to 9b. Bumblebees adore her !
