Hybrid Multiflora
R. Rugosa X R. Multiflora X R. Rugosa Alba
Only now we are beginning to appreciate the enormous work of Austrian Hungarian rose breeder Rudolph Geschwind. His Crossings with species roses wasn't really noticed at the time but today they certainly are.
Geschwind's orden is such a creation which is becoming more and more popular. It's a Multiflora rambler of approx 500 cm or 18 feet and is ideal for pergola's, obelisks, fences and even trees.
Flowers are of a rare beauty: Very full, old fashioned blooms in small clusters. But it's the magnificent color scheme of the petals which is breathtakingly beautiful: Outer white petals, deep pink in the center and in between a mauve shading. The result is just gorgeous.
This rambler blooms for several weeks and is the summum of romanticism. Extremely Hardy this rose can survive 4b to 9b. Rain and shade tolerant. Maybe one downside: Lack of smell but you get so much in return.
Look at her!
