Poulsen is a renowned Danish rose breeder. He has many rose collections, from miniature roses to patio, to Hybrid Tea to climbers etc..
Outside of Denmark, Scandinavia and Germany they are little known except for one collection: The Renaissance collection.
The Renaissance collection was Poulsen's answer to the English roses of David Austin and to be honest: Most Renaissance varieties are better than the DA varieties. They all excell in health, reblooming, fragrance and beauty. We all know Claire Renaissance or Ghita Renaissance (Mum in a million), Sophia Renaissance etc... and they are really stunning!
Incredibly fragrant and so free flowering.
In 1996 Poulsen gave us The Leonard Cheshire home rose but she became far better known as Nadia Renaissance.
The flowers of Nadia Renaissance are deep, bright red like the peonies on Chinese art. They have this old fashioned very filled bloom shape and stand in clusters. There is an exceptional strong old rose fragrance. She looks almost identical to L. D. Braithwaite from David Austin but far superior.
Becomes a big rounded shrub between 100 and 150 cm. Never without flowers and Glossy dark green foliage.
Many many friends have recommended her to me so she is an outstanding variety. Take a look for yourself:
