Massad succeeded in creating a rose with the deep red color and strong fragrance of the red Hybrid Perpetuals combined with a superior disease resistance! Good reds are difficult as David Austin should know because nearly all his red roses have been abandoned.
This Bicentenaire de Guillot bears clusters of almost black buds unfolding into deep red old fashioned blooms. When fully open they can even show their stamen. Slowly they fade into purple. The fragrance is strong and of the Tea family. Dark green glossy foliage which is extremely healthy. A nice rounded shrub 100X80 cm or 3X3 feet so as always with the Generosa collection it is ideal for pots. Blooms from June till October and is Hardy zone 5b to 9b. A quality rose! Highly recommended
