Souvenir de Louis Lens, Lens roses 2011
Hybrid Multiflora
Beautiful shrub that stands out because of its brown branches, brown leaves and the changing color of the flowers. The single flowers (6 cm) are in long racemes of 10 to 30 and are lightly fragrant. The flower buds are orange, gem yellow when budding and then changing to light pink with a dark pink heart. Very beautiful are the young branches and the young leaves that are brownish red when they appear. This forms a wonderful contrast to the flowers that appear as early as May. The shrub continues to rebloom all summer until the end of October. Height 180-200 cm or 7 feet.
A plant that looks good all year round.
This crossing by Louis Lens is a tribute to him, who expanded the group of Moschata hybrids with many valuable garden roses.
Before his death in 2001 Louis crossed Trier with Mutabilis and four seedlings were kept: Apricot bells, Plaisanterie and Patricia Beucher were introduced and in 2011 Souvenir de Louis Lens was baptized at Hex castle in Limburg, Flanders region of Belgium. A wonderful tribute to the man who did so much for the Hybrid Multiflora's.
