Safrano, Beauregard 1837
Tea
A rose of great beauty.
Yellow, apricot shading, ages to buff . Strong fragrance. 22 petals. Medium to large, double (17-25 petals), cupped bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
Reddish-purple foliage.
Height: 6'7" to 9'10" (200 to 300cm). Width: 6'7" to 9'10" (200 to 300cm).
USDA zone 7b through 9b. Can be used for cut flower or garden. Vigorous and heat tolerant. For such an old Tea it's remarkable how disease resistant she is.
Parentage is somewhat uncertain but this is the most probable combination:
Parks' Yellow Tea-scented China × Desprez
Got renewed attention when New Dawn got immensely popular, Safrano is one of the parents of Dr W Van Fleet of which New Dawn is a reblooming sport.
A must have for every Tea lover
