Rosa Mulligannii (Boulenger)
Wild species
Rampant scrambler
Together with Kiftsgate, Brunonii and Paul's Himalayan musk rosa Mulligannii forms the group of rampant ramblers also called scramblers
Mulligannii became popular when Vita Sackville West used this rose in the white garden at Sissinghurst gardens. Her specimen covered a very big garden arbor and was the star of the garden.
It's a rose which can reach 15 meter or more and is best for covering big objects. It blooms in June with thousands and thousands of small with single blooms in clusters spreading a strong scent of fresh cut green grass or banana. The blooms turn into hips when summer progresses and give a spectacular red display in autumn and winter. According to Graham Thomas this rose grows in places where Kiftsgate won't grow. Completely Hardy and very healthy.
