Rose Pruning: Floribunda's (formerly known as Polyanta's)
Not so long ago floribunda roses had one single purpose: Giving color all summer and autumn. The blooms itself weren't that important, the color was.
Today Floribunda's have gotten an upgrade. Their blooms are often such as beautiful as HT and shrub roses and their fragrance has become an important feature. And that's a good thing. Away with these roses without character.
So how do we prune them? Once the chance of severe frost is gone we can take our sécateurs and rose gloves and go into the garden on a nice sunny day.
With Floribunda's we don't look at bud eyes so that's easy. First remove all sick, thin, weak growth and also dead wood. Once that's done we are gonna prune in a domed shape so the light can reach all sides of the rose. We don't prune as hard as with HT roses so pruning away half the length is the maximum. If you want to prune less so let's say 1/3 that's completely OK.
After pruning them it's the ideal time to mulch with compost or granulated cow or horse manure. Never be a Scrooge regarding organic material. It's the way to beautiful and healthy roses so give plenty of it.
Good luck!
