Peter Paul Rubens, Martin Vissers
Modern hybrid
Flemish rose breeder Martin Vissers has created many internationally acclaimed roses.
Peter Paul Rubens (Named after the famous Flemish Baroque painter) was created by crossing Lucetta with Golden Celebration so two DA roses.
It's a tall rose and can reach 120 cm and more as a small climber. It has nice fresh green foliage which is always healthy.
The blooms are many petaled and globular cups. A bit like the old cabbage rose. She reminds us of Jude the obscure and brother Cadfael. The color is very beautiful. A blend of pink with apricot. They have an extreme damask with myrrh fragrance, very refreshing. Glorious when in full flush. She repeats well and is never without flowers. She's especially good in pots. I have three in pots and they are fabulous.
Consensus: Peter Paul Rubens honors the famous painter with incredible beautiful blooms and a stunning fragrance. A healthy and reliable rose and a jewel in large pots.
