Othello

Othello, Austin 1988

English rose

Deep to bright red, very full, old fashioned blooms with a strong fragrance. Mostly they stand alone and sometimes in small clusters.
Vigorous upright growth up to 250 cm or 13 feet. Strong thick canes with many thorns.
Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Susceptible to mildew.
Best way to grow her is against a fence or wall. Train her as horizontal as possible. This way she will make lateral shoots which will bloom all over the main canes. You can also Peg the long shoots to the ground and also this way she will bloom much more.
A bit difficult but very beautiful flowers. Looks like a Bourbon in growing habit
