Reine Victoria, Schwartz 1876
Bourbon
As a Bourbon La Reine Victoria is quite tall and can reach 200 cm easily. Slender upright branches which can be trained perfectly on a trellis, obelisk, fence, pillar, etc. It's a rose we call a pillar rose, ideal as a short climber.
Her soft pink blooms are very cupped and have many petals. Not seldom they are quartered. Her fragrance is, like almost all Bourbons, heavenly and strong.
The first flush is abundant and a sight to behold and in September she'll do it again. Maybe some mildew but more than that? No, she's pretty healthy. Reine Victoria was named after Queen Victoria of course and just like the famous queen this rose stayed popular. She has a lighter pink sport, Mme Pierre Oger, but my experience told me she blooms a bit less.
It was one of my first roses I planted in my parents garden. She's still there.
