Peggy Martin

Peggy Martin, discovered by Peggy Martin in 1989

Found rose, reblooming rambler

A rose of great American interest. This rose survived two weeks underwater after hurricane šŸŒ€ Katrina smashed into New Orleans and Louisiana in 2005. A rose that can survive that long in salty seawater is almost indestructible. She got nationwide attention and became a symbol of resilience.

The plant itself came from cuttings and these cuttings came other cuttings etc....
Probably it's a seedling from a know variety...

Flowers are semi double to double, pink and stand in clusters. Fragrance can go from mild to moderate but opinions vary. As a rambler this rose can easily reach 7 meters or 21 feet. She repeats in September.

Extraordinary healthy and thornless this rose is an addition to each southern state garden. Very hardy too with Zone 4b to 10b. Suitable to climb and cover anything you want.

After her exposure in the media she became a rose monument and cuttings of the rose got send to nearly all American rose nurseries. Today she's everywhere in New Orleans, Louisiana and beyond.

Isn't that a great story?
