William Morris

William Morris, Austin 1999

English rose

Almost forgotten in Europe this William Morris and that's a shame as he has the most magnificent blooms and color. Let me start with its growth: Its arching and can reach 140 cm or 5 feet so remember this rose is very suitable for an obelisk, pyramid, tripod etc. She will need some kind of support because the clusters of blooms are big and they can bend to the ground. Those blooms are really magnificent: Apricot and pink very full rosette shaped. They exude a very strong fragrance. Abraham Darby is a parent of this rose and you can tell. She's susceptible to rust but I've never seen it have this. Zone 6b to 9b. Always deadhead for encouraging rebloom. Give plenty of food, compost and water.
I'd like to see William Morris making a comeback in Europe.
Named after the man behind the Arts and crafts movement.
