Vesalius

Vesalius, Vissers 2012

Modern Hybrid

Again a stunner from the pope of Flemish rose breeding Martin Vissers. Vesalius has very globular, very full blooms in clusters. The color is a stunning mauve in the center and fading into white towards the edges. They have a very intense old rose fragrance combined with fruit. This is a strong grower and when planted against a fence or pillar or obelisk this rose can reach 270 cm or 8 feet. Zone 6b to 9b. Very floriferous and reliable. Good disease resistance. In very rainy summers the blooms could struggle to open which is the case with all of this kind of blooms.
This rose is worldwide popular, even in Asia. She's very sought after as a wedding rose.
Vesalius was a Flemish doctor in the 16th century. He served the Habsburg emperors Charles V and Philipp II. He dug up dead bodies to dissect them and to study the human body. This was all done in secrecy as it was absolutely forbitten. Thx to Vesalius the modern medicine took off. A highly important man
