Joseph Liger, Barbier 1905

An almost forgotten Barbier rambler and that's sad as it's a stunner. Looks a bit like Alberic Barbier but the flowers are a bit bigger and more colorful. White with warm yellow/apricot shading. Strong apple fragrance. Typical Wichuraiana climber up to 5 meter and good health. Shiny glossy foliage. Good cold resistance at 5b

If I'm correct Joseph Liger was a cross between Wichuraiana and Irene Watts and that's interesting as the original Irene watts has been lost. The current rose sold as Irène Watts is in fact Pink Gruss an Aachen. So the blooms of Joseph Liger give us a good idea of how the real Irène Watts should have looked.
