Yolande d'aragon

Yolande d'Aragon, Vibert 1843

She's listed as a Hybrid Perpetual or as a Portland but recent research showed she's very closely related to the Gallica roses. And that's no surprise because... look at her!
Gorgeous sumptuous carmine red/pink rosettes and a pervasive fragrance. Makes a nice round shrub of 120 X120 cm or 5X5 feet. After main flush some scattered blooms later in the season. Zone 4b to 9b. Very disease resistant.
Yolanda d'aragon was the Spanish wife of French King Louis II d'Anjou and a strong supporter of Jeanne d'Arc. She died in 1442

  1. What an astounding beauty. This year I hope to get her and see how she looks next to Abraham Darby.
