Paul's Himalayan musk

Paul's Himalayan musk, Paul 1916

Scrambler, R. Brunonii hybrid?

Only rivaled by R. Filipes (Kiftsgate) Paul's Himalayan musk is a real Titan among the ramblers. It's growing power is almost unique as it can grow several meters each season. The dimensions here are purely an indication of what you can expect: 15 X 15 meters but it's definitely (much) more when it gets the opportunity. Very hardy, Zone 4b to 9b.
Flowers are small and double, in a pink to licac color fading into white. They stand in big loose clusters. Solitary the blooms dont smell strong but together they create this cloud of musk fragrance which will fill the air on a warm late spring day.
The rose blooms for six weeks and starts to grow afterwards. The biggest mistake you can make is to give it not enough space. Don't assume it's suitable for a pergola or arch, it's not. It's only suitable for very big spaces such as big buildings, very big objects to cover or the best purpose: Tree climber. As a tree climber it can show off its exceptional beauty. Use a big fruit tree and it will start a symbiotic relationship with the tree. It will spread nicely in the tree and when it blooms it will look like one big lilac cloud. Also a tree will prevent it from getting mildew because wind and airflow can whirl around it. If Paul's Himalayan musk is contained it will get mildew so please only buy this rose if you can give it what it wants and needs. Only then it will show you its true power and beauty. Probably the most beautiful scrambler.
