Jacques Cartier /Marquise Boccella

Jacques Cartier /Marquise Boccella, Desprez 1842? Moureau Robert 1862 ?

Damask Perpetual /Portland

There's a lot of confusion about this rose. In America Jacques Cartier must be sold as Marchesa Boccella but that name is wrong as the right name is Marquise Boccella. In Europe we shake our heads and call it Jacques Cartier lol 😂
Beautiful pink blooms, rosette shape in clusters. Strong fragrance. Makes a rounded shrub of 150 X 90 cm or 5X3 feet. Looks a lot like Mme Boll but Mme Boll's blooms are more refined and almost always perfect. Cartier is a bit more rough.
Good reblooming skills (three times) and very healthy. A good rose. A white sport exists and is sold as White Jacques Cartier. Les roses de Daniel in Malmedy in Belgium sells a climbing sport of Jacques Cartier.
