General Jack
Jack's rose
Hybrid Perpetual
An important rose in rose history. Nearly all red Hybrid teas are descendants from Général Jacqueminot. Jack has famous parents himself: Gloire des Rosomanes X Géant des Batailles. Especially Gloire des Rosomanes is the arch father of our modern red roses.
Général Jacqueminot is a tall arching small climber and can reach 250X 200 cm or 8X6 feet. Best trained against an Obelisk, Piramide or pegged down.
The flowers are very double, brilliant red fading into mauve and purple. Extremely strong fragrance. The blooms burn in hot weather so choose partial shade position.
After the main flush he reblooms in Autumn. Health is moderate and zone 5b to 9b.
A rose especially grown for its fragrance and as a cut flower
