Gallica
For me together with Charles de Mills and Duchesse de Montebello Belle Isis is the summum of the Gallica roses. Flesh pink, rosettes or quartered blooms in clusters with a strong delightful fragrance. Nice compact shrub up to 120X80 cm or 5 X 4 feet. It's a pretty sight when she's in full flush and thankfully we can enjoy it for five weeks or maybe more depending on the temperature. Healthy, sometimes a bit mildew, but nothing serious. Shady areas are no problem and she's Hardy too zone 5b to 9b
Belle Isis was one of the mother plants of Constance Spry making her the paternal grandmother of all English roses.
