Baronne Prévost, Desprez 1841
Hybrid Perpetual/Bourbon
A rose of incredible beauty. Flat quartered blooms with a button eye in this exquisite light to medium pink color. Outstanding strong damask fragrance. Neat rounded shrub which can reach 150 cm. Good sturdy upright canes which can support the big baroque flowers. Can be used for pegging down. Can ball in very wet weather and is susceptible to Blackspot although I have never seen it on my specimen.
Hélas we don't know it's parents. It has many characteristics of the Bourbons but many still regard it as a Hybrid Perpetual and one of the very first. It is one of the very best of its class. Reblooms later in the season but not as abundant as its first early summer flush.
A real eye-catching beauty
