Augusta Luise

Augusta Luise, Tantau 1999
Aquarell

Large flowering floribunda

One of our favorite roses in the garden.
In 2017 we visited the yearly Rose days at the castle of Hex in Flanders. Many stands selling all kinds of garden stuff. From roses to perennials etc. Peter Beales, Lens Roses, De Wilde, Kordes roses etc they all have a stand.
Yves and I passed a stand with roses and perennials and they had two standard roses in full flush. So beautiful colors, from peach to yellow to pink and that incredible fruity fragrance! We were sold but the price tag was a bit high: 58 euro for one. We decided to go and look at our big plant center that always has many popular roses and standard roses. And yes, there she was! Now we knew her name: Augusta Luise from Tantau. Price for one standard rose: 23 euro. That's better! We bought two (and two Chandos Beauty standards).
We planted them close to our terrace and I started with my observation (I always observe my roses and I take notes). Today we can say with 100% that Augusta Luise is one of the very best roses of the last twenty years. Rich dark green foliage, three flushes in one summer and those flowers! 😍. Huge very double many petaled flowers in peach, yellow, pink and red. A real Aquarell! The fragrance is very strong and fruity.
She repeats like hell with only three weeks in between and the second flush is as good as the first or the third. Astonishing for sure. We couldn't have a garden without her. She's so reliable and rain proof. An incredible variety
